Keynote Speaker Thomas R. Cech, Nobel Laureate, Director of the Colorado Initiative for Molecular Biology
Interdisciplinary Research: from the Farm to the Rocky Mountains
Description:
Prof. Cech will describe the opportunities for new biomedical discoveries that can be stimulated when chemists, physicists, computer scientists and engineers work shoulder-to-shoulder with bioscientists. He will talk about the development of the Janelia Farm Research Campus in northern Virginia, which occurred when he was president of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Many of these same concepts are now being applied to the Colorado Initiative in Molecular Biotechnology at the University of Colorado.
